A crowd trailed behind, recording the event on their phones, as they tried to divert the elephant from its path with noise and commotion.

The elephant is believed to have come from the  Amchang Reserve Forest, about 10 miles away, likely venturing into the city in search of food.

While navigating through parked vehicles, the elephant encountered a tight spot but managed to solve the problem by gently pushing a van aside with its trunk, making space to continue on its way.

Forest department officials later arrived on the scene and attempted to block the elephant’s progress using a road divider. However, the elephant quickly knocked over the flimsy barrier with its trunk.

In response, the officials resorted to hitting the divider and tapping the elephant’s head with bamboo sticks in an attempt to change its course.

Earlier in the day, the elephant had caused similar scenes of chaos when it wandered into a residential area in Panjabari, where crowds again gathered to watch and film the incident.

The elephant was eventually tranquilized and taken to the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati. Plans are in place to return it to its natural habitat in the Amchang Reserve Forest.
